Do you know your target audience?

target audience 2

If not, You really need to read this!

Is your marketing message being heard by the right people or is it getting lost
in the sauce amongst the rest of the usual hype and noise?

One of the problems that a lot of new and struggling marketers face is getting
their marketing message to their target audience…

…most don’t even know who their target audience or customer avatar is

So it’s no wonder why they have a hard time getting traffic, generating leads
and building lists for their businesses. The sad part is that this is quite simple
when you have the right information and put it into action.

However…

Most of them tend to give up before they even get on the right track, which is
why the failure rate of people who attempt to make a living online is in the high
90 percentile range.

This statistic is staggering I know, but you don’t have fall victim to it, I got your
back if you are willing to listen to someone who has been there, done that and
got the t-shirt!

You see not so long ago I was just like you, trying to navigate my way through
this gigantic internet maze. I could see that there were people having all kind
of success, yet I continued to struggle.

I figured if I could cast a big enough net that I would eventually catch some
fish, so i kept trying to go after a wider and wider audience. It was like
throwing a bunch of spaghetti at the wall to see how much would stick!

As the saying goes…

“If you try to market to everybody, You are really marketing to nobody”

It took me several years to finally figure this out…

no, I’m not ashamed to admit it

You see, because I have learned from my mistakes and now I can give you
some experience, strength and hope. 🙂

The key is learning who your customer avatar is and what their wants, needs
and desires are!

Who are you trying to serve in the marketplace?

spaghetti evaluation

You must spend some time figuring this out or you will continue to throw spaghetti at the wall just like I was doing.

Once you get a lock on your target audience and you are able to speak directly to those people, the sky is the limit for your business my friend.

I mean just imagine for a second…

You are walking through a crowded mall or big department store, with all of
hustle and bustle going on around you. People are carrying on conversations,
somebody is calling for a clean up on isle 6 over the PA system, children are
running around laughing and playing, babies are crying…

…and all of a sudden someone calls out your name

What is your natural reaction?

I’ll tell you…You stop and start looking around to see who’s calling you right?

Guess what, this is what’s happening in the world of internet marketing all the
time! And you simply have to figure out how to stand out in the crowd! Our
world is full of noise and hype, but we all respond when someone calls out our
names specifically.

When you are able to define your target audience and speak directly to their
needs, wants and desires…you can write you own ticket my friend and this
is no hype…

How do the Gurus stay in our pockets?

They do the necessary research to learn exactly who we are and what we
want so they figure out how to get it to us…for a nominal fee of course.

One of the best tools we have at our disposal as marketers today is Facebook.

Regardless of what you may think about it, It is the number one marketing
platform on planet Earth right now. The amount of data they have collected
from over 1 billion users is astonishing!

And before you go getting all bent out of shape about it, remember You gave
it to them in the first place.

Ok, so let keep it moving because if you can wrap your mind around how
powerful this tool is…you’ll be well on your way.

To be honest with you, the scope of this goes way beyond what I can lay out
in this blog post, So bear with me here.

Matter of fact I am still trying understand the magnitude of it all myself…

But, for the past few months I have taken a deep dive into learning everything
I can about Facebook Advertising and I can tell you that I am truly excited
about what is available to us as marketers  and where my business is headed
as a result.

facebook for business

I don’t think you can get any, more highly targeted traffic anywhere!

I use several different traffic sources for my business, i.e. solo ads, youtube,
blogs, forums etc., But what I am seeing from my advertising efforts on FB
is game changing.

And let me be clear, I’m not trying to sell anything here, heck I’m not even
going to recommend any specific training or courses in this post. I just really
wanted to give you the heads up on what I’ve been seeing lately that’s working.

It’s up to you to decide whether you want to check out what I’m saying or not.

And when you do, I’ll be right here to help you along the way.

Be sure to check back here regularly to get the heads up on what I discover 😉

Well, That’s all I got for now my friend.

Hey there Terry Great post. I have to agree Facebook has so much information and if you know how to dig down you will find lots of hidden gems. I too have done a lot of research on facebook and it still surprises me where I find my target audience. The more you know who your customer is the more chance you have of attracting them to you

    Great post

Hey Thanks for joining the conversation Jenelle
and thanks for the kudos 🙂

You know you are absolutely on point about how
to be more attractive to your target audience.
It’s funny how my ideal customer did not turn
out to be who I thought it would be.

      Thanks for chiming in

  • Couldn’t agree more Terry and just love the mall analogy because it is just like that. It’s funny how many people hate change and think Facebook is just terrible, but we see it from a totally different perspective. It truly is a gold mine and it’s a blessing to be able to connect with those who resonate with us and what we’re doing. Facebook know how to share value to help others be successful and so do you. Thanks so much. You Rock!
